Google Sites

Wow, even Google is jumping on the Web site bandwagon! Google Sites is a new service that allows you to create your very own Web site. Plus, if you have your own domain, it lets you put your site on there too. Let's check it out, shall we?!

To get started with Google Sites, head on over to http://sites.google.com. branded cialis drugstore If you have a Google account, you’ll be asked to log in. (If you don't have an account, you'll need to create one before you can start using Google Sites).

Linked In

Welcome to Linked In, your ticket to building great relationships with other businesses, staying connected with colleagues and networking!

Registration is easy. Just fill out the form with your name, e-mail address, create a password, country, zip code, your employment status, title, industry and company.

Next, you can customize what you’re looking to do and what your network can help you do. It’s divided into two sections:

To Find – This listing lets you select what your network can help you with. It includes: find a job, finding consulting or contracting positions, reconnecting and staying in touch with colleagues, selling products or services, investigating deals with companies, finding information on industries, products or companies and finding professionals interested in your product or 10mg cialis venture.

To Be Found – This listing lets you select what you want to be contacted about. It includes: messages from friends and colleagues trying to get in touch with you, requests to provide a reference for a past or present co-worker, career opportunities, contract or consulting offers, inquiries about a position with your company, deal proposals for your company, relevant requests about your expertise and proposed discussions about new ventures or products.

I’m mostly using this Web site to reconnect with people, as I’m not really looking for new work or more work. So, I chose the options pertaining to that and unchecked the ones I didn’t need. When you've selected the options you prefer, click Save.

At this point, you’ll be taken to your account page, where the first thing you'll want to do is confirm your e-mail address. The next step is to set up your contacts. You can do that by choosing the e-mail provider you use on the Web and it will take you directly to that page to log in. Once you’ve logged in, you’ll get a page explaining the security and why they need your permission. If you’re okay with sharing your address book with them, click "I Agree." If you aren’t comfortable, click "I Do Not Agree."

If you use MS Outlook or a program like it, you can import your contacts with the section below the Webmail. You’ll browse your computer for the file and then upload it.

You can also add contacts manually, which is my preferred method, because you're in complete control of the information you're giving out.

Once you have all of that set up or just after you’ve confirmed your e-mail address, you can start browsing employment opportunities under the Jobs tab. Or, you can ask and answer business questions in the Answers section.

I love the professional feel of this Web site and when you combine it with its ease of use and the fact that it’s free, it just doesn't get any better. I hope you enjoy it as well!

Avatar

I'm sure you've all heard of the term "avatar" before, right? I mean, it is a pretty common word on the Web today, but even then, you may have heard of it and propecia trials still not know what it means or what all it entails. Now, we here at WorldStart have touched on avatars a little in the past, but after looking through our archives, I didn't feel like we really gave a good definition of it. So, here you go!

An avatar is basically just an icon that helps represent you on the Internet. They are mostly used on Web site forums, game programs and on some other online communities, like chat rooms. A lot of people use a picture of themselves for their avatar, while others just use a favorite picture of something they like. For example, right now, my avatar on WorldStart's message board is a beautiful yellow flower. I chose that, because I'm tired of the winter season and I'm in the mood for some warmer weather!

Most Web sites that allow you to have an avatar will have instructions on how to get yours posted. They will probably have certain guidelines (sizes, content, etc.) that you will have to follow, but they're generally easy to create. For instance, WorldStart's maximum size allowed is 100×100 pixels or 19.5 KB (whichever is smaller). So, now that you know exactly what an avatar is, you can get started on creating your own.

Youtube’s latest feature – Annotations

As soon as Youtube updated the look of their embedded player for all ( it was optional before ), it has added an amazing feature which screams “Youtube is the king of online video!”. This might seem like a big statement to some who like Veoh, Hulu, Dailymotion and other websites more. But the fact that you can now add speech bubbles, spotlights and notes to any video you upload to Youtube keeps it above the rest.

Youtube Annotations is the newest and most innovative feature so far that I’ve seen in online video sharing websites as it brings a whole new dimension of interactivity to your videos. As a matter of fact, it does for online videos, what subtitles have done for DVDs. The process of adding annotations to your videos isn’t difficult either. It involves you uploading the video of your choice, or selecting one of your already uploaded videos. On the video page, you’ll see a new portion under the embed code area. Click the Add Annotations button, and you’ll be taken to the Annotations editor, which is built like a movie editor software would be, only it’s much simpler and easier to use. Instead of a separate timeline as with desktop applications, it allows you to work on the seek bar of your Youtube video and use that as a timeline. You can click either of the 3 options ( Add Speech Bubble, Add Note, Add Spotlight ). All these options are very useful as with speech bubbles, you can make comic style bubbles which can make it very interesting depending on the video. With notes, you can just add a note on any portion of the video ( it can also be used as subtitles, only problem being that the background isn’t transparent). And spotlight can highlight an area on the video, but wont show any text unless you hover on that portion. You can even use links ( although the links are limited to Youtube’s only for now) in your text.

Urban Dictionary

Urban Dictionary

This site is not necessarily for everyone, as it is describing slang, but I found it, because I heard a song on the radio talking about showing someone your grill and had no idea what it meant.

Meanings of grill:

buy propecia online usa align=”justify”>1.) Teeth
2.) A gold/diamond plate that is molded for your teeth. It is decorated with diamonds and/or gold. Usually worn by rappers, Nelly, Paul Wall, Mike Jones and many others.

I was highly confused, so I had to find somewhere to look it up and I found this site. I think this site is also handy for monitoring the slang coming out of your children’s mouths. My mom wouldn’t let us use slang around the house. We always had to speak perfect English. This is what comes of having a teacher for a mom. I am extremely grateful that she did, because It made me better able to communicate.

There are several ways to surf this site. The easiest way is to type in the word you want to define in the dictionary, like I did. Put in the term you want to define and click the search button.

Or, you can go through alphabetically, A-Z, and browse slang words by letter. Or you can click Random at the very end of the A to Z listing and get a random word. There are also random listings that change on the main page.

I wouldn’t want my children using a lot of this terminology, that is for sure. Another warning that I just noticed: some of the examples do have profanity in them, so I wouldn’t recommend showing this site to kids.
