This is an additional five months from the original January 31, 2008 date.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size: 9pt; margin: 0in; font-family: Verdana\" align=\"justify\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size: 9pt; margin: 0in; font-family: Verdana\" align=\"justify\">If you recall, we <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.techrepublic.com.com\/tech-news\/?p=1216\"><span style=\"color: blue\">reported just last week<\/span><\/a> on how Microsoft has softened its stance and has been quietly allowing PC makers to furnish a &ldquo;downgrade&rdquo; to Windows XP for customers who request it. Allowing PC makers to furnish a downgrade, or selling it with XP preloaded, reduces the hassle to system administrators. This is especially true for larger orders.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size: 9pt; margin: 0in; font-family: Verdana\" align=\"justify\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size: 9pt; margin: 0in; font-family: Verdana\" align=\"justify\">Microsoft now plans to keep XP on retail shelves even longer.
